Vinegar is an acidic liquid and comes in a variety of flavours. There are many types of vinegar depending on the source. However, White Vinegar and Apple Cider Vinegar are the most popular types.
It is mostly used in baking but has a wide variety of uses that will make you wonder why you waited so long to get it.
All-Purpose Cleaner
Because Vinegar has antibacterial properties, it is useful as a natural alternative to commercial cleaning agents, from stainless pots and pans, to sinks, faucets, refrigerator, cutting boards, rusted jewellery, tiles, windows, fabrics, carpet stains and many more. The list of things vinegar can clean is endless! Using vinegar as a cleaning agent will leave your kitchen pristine and spotless.
Mix 1 cup of water with half a cup of vinegar, and you’ll have a natural all-purpose cleaner.
Weightloss
One of the important tips in a weight loss journey is to reduce your calorie intake. Apple cider vinegar is useful for this because it helps you feel full.
Though not a great long-term hack and should be used cautiously, some studies have shown that consuming apple cider vinegar may help you eat fewer calories, lose weight and reduce belly fat.
Preserve Food
Vinegar is an effective preservative.
For thousands of years, people have used vinegar to preserve foods, by making the food more acidic, which deactivates its enzymes and kills any bacteria in the food that may cause spoilage.
Skin Care
Apple cider vinegar is claimed to help with skin conditions; like clearing acne, and reducing the signs of ageing (as a facial toner).
Just mix 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water, then applied to the skin using a cotton pad. However, if you have sensitive skin, you should make a more diluted solution by adding more water.
Hair Care and Dandruff Treatment
Massaging diluted apple cider vinegar into your scalp may help get rid of dandruff. The theory is that the acid in the vinegar could help stop the growth of the fungus which may contribute to dandruff.
Also, using vinegar (diluted please!) to rinse your hair can help remove product buildup, detangle and add shine to your hair.
Boil Better Eggs
Adding vinegar to the water you use to boil eggs can help you produce consistently good eggs. This is because the protein in egg whites firm up more quickly when exposed to a more acidic liquid.
Using vinegar when boiling eggs can also speed up the coagulation, or clotting, of the egg whites. This can be useful if the shell cracks while the egg is being boiled.
Natural Deodorant
Vinegar acts as a general deodorant. For your body, smelly shoes, stinky corners and so on. This is because it kills the bacteria that causes your those horrible smells. Vinegar is non-toxic, has a pleasantly clean smell and is an environmentally safe product to use.
